The Holiday

Now that we're at it, why not I tell you about the Holiday.

Picture this :

23 people. Noisy. Related.

Not punctual. Love complaining. Everyone wants to do their own thing.

Weather : Cold, windy, rainy, wet. (Spain)

Even colder, windy, dry, sunny. (Morocco)

We used walkie talkies to talk in the market. "Big Boy 1, over!"

It was alright I suppose.

Came back with 5 belts, 3 bags, 2 pairs of shoes, Be Delicious DKNY perfume (courtesy of wonderful cutie pie lovely huggable Grandma), a book, two cans of tuna, a whole lot of olive oil (they give it free in little bottles when you order salads!), my Grandma's voice in my head "No relax! No relax!", 278 pictures, a broken camera, sunglasses for $5, a few shirts, red gloves, black gloves, a plate.

I think there's more but I can't remember now.

Spent time with cousins. Marisa couldn't stop smoking. I shared a bed with her. I was breathing in cigarette fumes. It was horrible. She's really thin too. But she's fun to talk to and it's amusing watching her choose what to wear. Also, her British accent is funny. "Can'onese koay 'eow anyone?" Haha. We were making fun of her all the way. But. But. She went out practically every night. With brother (hers), brother (mine), cousin. How do these people have the drive to do these things? What's so fun about it?

Before I say anything, please download Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy (Anas told me about it). It's so. Bloody fantastic. It has that kind of sad, haunting beauty that it's so nice to wallow in.

Back to holiday. In Spain for the first two days we stayed at this beach hotel place. It was fcuking cold. We took the Red Bus for a tour around Malaga. It was quite amusing actually. We'd run towards the Red Bus whenever we saw it. But the whole entourage hadn't arrived yet so it was just my family and Ili's and Grandma of course. She never misses out on anything, I'm telling you. Oh wait, Aunty Nafi was there. But I shall not mention her as I have mixed feelings about her (Don't know whether to pity her or be angry with her after all the things she thinks of us and assumes and tells people about.)

We went to this place called El Corte Ingles (Al-Kote Inggeris? Haha!) But everything was so expensive. Mum bought a pair of gloves for I think $19 which is around 100 ringgit. But they were very stylish and she never buys anything for herself so I am proud of her yes I am. And then after that I can't remember what we did.

Second part of Spain was spent in Don Curro Hotel. There were lovely little alleys and nooks and crannies and quaint coffee shops everywhere, it was just like in a book. Wait let me post some pictures. The image is taking a long time to load so I shall continue typing first. But anyway, it was filled with alleys like in the picture (if you can see it). Hours were spent walking aimlessly back and forth and everywhere. There were all sorts of shops but everything closed from 2 to 6 p.m. for the Spanish people's siesta. They love siestas. It's basically an afternoon nap where they laze around and do anything. It's at night when the fun starts. But I am not really a night person so my nights were spent in the room eating oranges. Oh look! The picture has loaded. I don't know what the hell I was wearing, sorry. It looks like a work out outfit. Hehe. (Was going to type LOL but I have made a resolution to stop using Internet language and start typing with punctuation. This will aid me in all areas of life.)
I'm getting bored telling you about Spain. But I have to finish what I started. Everyone ate McDonalds everyday because to find a restaurant that could fit 23 people at once was a big hassle. Lots of restaurants turned us down because they didn't want the trouble. How sad. But they had good salads in McDonalds so I was able to survive. I shudder to think of the number of cans of tuna I consumed when I was there. I must be filled with radioactivity now! But oh well. Such is life.
After Spain, we commenced to Morocco (Marrakech) and stayed at Kenzi Farah hotel. It was quite interesting, I must say. We were forced to go for this Christmas Eve Dinner which cost 70 Euro (Around 350 ringgit) and the food was an hour late so everyone left. Our family was the only one who got a partial refund (We never keep quiet about anything). And those under 15 got a present! Of course I was under 15 so I got a pair slippers. =P. Very nice. Black and beaded.
We went to lots of souks and things. I got this leather bag which smelt bad but it was pretty. I got a bit scared because of all the sleazy looking men. Frightening. There was this lady who went up to Ili and started putting henna on her hand. Scene:
Ili : What are you doing? I don't want this.
Lady : No no, this is my present for you.
Ili : I don't want a present. Stop it!
Lady : No no, this is very nice. It is my present.
(Ili cannot seem to get rid of her and complies)
Lady : Now I have given you a present, you must give me one too.
Ili : No way man, I didn't even ask for it.
Lady : No, I gave you present. You must give me one.
Ili : I didn't want it! What is this!
Lady : Fuck you!
Ili : Oh my God! Fuck you too man!
Mind you, this lady was wearing a full burka. And she said "Fuck you!" It was hilarious. I was laughing all the way home.
After Marrakech we went to Casablanca. The traffic was mad I tell you. MAD. There were no signs or rules. Everyone did what they wanted. It was funny. My dad wanted to wear a seat belt and the guy was like "No, no seatbelt."
Saw this shop with a huge poster of Nadal. I went in and said "Can I have this please?" The guy took out lots of others. "Roddick, yes. Federer, yes. Nadal? No." I was devastated. It seems even men like the light of my life. But the man went up to this little attic and came down with one of those pamphlet thingies from a Babolat racquet (the one that Nadal uses) and he gave it to me which was very nice. Thank you, man from the tennis shop! :D
Then.. It was time to go home. 15 days of pure.. Torture? Well. Family is family isn't it. Was good to meet up though. And I bought lots of presents. Lovely lovely things for lovely lovely people. You know who you are (=
I am rather hungry so I shall go make myself some lunch now. Don't know when I will be posting again but I don't think it's today because that would just be sad (Don't I have anything else to do?)
Love love.
